This summer the British Lions head south for a test series against Australia and to celebrate Stourbridge’s 2013 May Lunch on Friday 10th May welcomes three legendary British Lions players as its’ guests of honour.
Ieuan Evans MBE – the flying wing who captained both Wales and the Lions famously made a ‘clown’ out of David Campese when scoring a memorable try in the British Lions test victory over Australia in 1989. He went on to feature in two other Lions tours and is now a well-respected commentator.
Jeremy Guscott – known as the ‘Prince of Centres’ Jerry was a fantastic footballer scoring a stunning try in the second test against Australia in ’89. He secured his place in Lions history with a winning drop goal in the second test against South Africa in 1997. Jerry is a full time pundit for the BBC on their Rugby Special, Scrum V and 6 Nations programmes.
Gareth Chilcott – also from the Lions ’89 Australia vintage is ‘Coochie’, a former England prop who is one of the games’ true characters with a great sense of comedy. As an England player he was involved in a brawl against Wales in Cardiff, which he claims was started by Worcester’s current head coach Richard Hill.
