Here are the results from our weekend fixtures!

Stourbridge 1st XV:

It was disappointment for the 1st XV with Bridgnorth taking the victory with a last minute penalty on Saturday.
Final score Bridgnorth 32 - Stourbridge 1st XV 30
Congratulations to Leo Gilliland on your Player of the Match award.

Stourbridge 2nd XV:

Congratulations to the 2nd XV who had a very convincing victory against Clee Hill on Saturday. Final score Stourbridge 2nd XV 75 - Clee Hill 29.
Well done to James Westwood on your Player of the Match award.

Match report:
Stour romped to their 6th consecutive win with little genuine resistance from a team that beat Stour twice last season. It was no contest this time and Stour led 42-10 at half time, having scored from kick off through try machine Rowan Dickinson, after great work from fullback Dan Johnson who 'carved up' after the Westwood brothers made the space expertly.

Tries came at regular intervals and despite losing rhythm after the break, Stour were very comfortable victors. The visitors managed 4 tries however and Stour will need to sharpen their defence for sterner tests, although Clee Hill were driven to avoid total humiliation and offered more 2nd half, as might be expected from a proud club.

Vice captain James Westwood made numerous line breaks and also used his playmaking and passing skills to stress Clee Hill at every opportunity. He deservedly picked up the MOM award. Brother George was also influential whilst Olly Clare came alive in the second half, showing exceptional pace.
The forward pack produced a steady stream of ball throughout and the backs lately utilised this productively.

Tries
G Westwood 2
R Dickinson 2
D Johnson 2
A Deery 1
T Shinton 1
J Westwood 1
O Clare 2
James Westwood-10 cons

Harborne won well this weekend and will be a tough test away from home next Saturday to complete October's fixtures.

Stourbridge Grasshoppers:

A tough day for the Hoppers on Saturday as they faced Kidderminster Vets away
Final score Kidderminster Carolians RFC Vets 34 - Hoppers 14.
Congratulations to Dane David Hughes on your Player of the Match award.

Comments from the Hoppers captain:
We lost to the better team on the day. Dane David Hughes was man of the match for us but the Kiddy 10 bossed the game and was the best player on the pitch.

Stourbridge Colts:

Congratulations to the Colts who made it 4 wins out of 4 in the NMCL Division 2 after a very close battle with local rivals Dudley Kingswinford U18's yesterday.
Final score Dudley Kingswinford U18's 33 - Stourbridge Colts 36.
Well done to Archie Samuel on your Player of the Match award.

Match report:
With half our squad down in Croydon representing OSH, we were down to the bare bones for our derby against DK. Late calls from injury and illness left us travelling with only 15.
An extremely fired up DK came out strongly and scored first. We then worked our way into the game, and our outpowered pack worked bravely to give our backs the platform to score some amazing tries, all from our own half, including a full length effort from Owen, following a strip on our try line by Archie.

We went in at half time 24-7 up, at this point DK changed nearly their entire pack. As the half drew on we absorbed a lot of pressure, with bodies on the line as they used their considerable size advantage and fresher legs to grind holes in our defensive line.

We always managed to keep our noses in front and a final try started from our own 22 and finished by Rudi, gave us enough points to get over the line.

Man of the Match goes to Archie Samuel’s, 2 tries, 2 assists, a strip on the try line and no missed tackles. Couldn’t pick a forward of the match as they all worked and tackled themselves into the ground.

Thanks
Chris
