Stour are looking to avenge the narrow away defeat back in November last year when Huddersfield came out 32-31 winners. After a slow start, Stourbridge managed to sneak 2 points courtesy of Tries by Mukarati, Afe Haisila and Lea finished in the dying seconds of the match by a Penalty Try! That game was very much in doubt due to heavy rain the previous week but a pitch inspection the morning before allowed the game to take place! The conditions very much suited the Lockwood Park boys where dogged mauling and secure lineout ball gave them the edge.
Hopefully, Huddersfield players and supporters will have a safe journey in conditions reminiscent of our trip to the earlier fixture but knowing that the Stourton Park pitch will be a different proposition! Our visitors are currently 12th in the league having won 8 games and drawn 3. On 50 points, they are far from safe with Luctonians and Otley hot on their heels whilst Preston look destined to join Scunthorpe in relegation.
Stourbridge need to put together some good results and this is the chance for a home win before we face long away trips on the next 3 consecutive weekends to Tynedale, Wharfedale and Sheffield! After that we have just two games left to play at home before the final game of this long campaign, when we travel to Loughborough.
It will be good to see the Sam Montieri start at No 8 whilst Hal Riley also returns to the squad after a long period of injury. We will also get the chance of seeing what our Gloucester Academy boys can do as Jack Bartlett and Archie Tarbuck are named on the bench and Reece Dunn will be available as cover in the backs, if needed!
The weather forecast for tomorrow looks reasonable with gusty wind but only 19%-21% chance of light rain. We look forward to seeing as many supporters as possible in what should be an entertaining afternoon of rugby.
